BOLOWIND: Wind energy offshore system

bolowind asked:

Floating wind energy offshore system Bolowind is a floating offshore system to produce wind energy. (Depths from 50 meters). A drag type system gets less performance that the helix. It is not disputed. But the structure of bolowind offers many other advantages that make it very interesting and where the helix does not succeed. It has been very difficult to summarize in 7 minutes all possibilities for the full version. A conceptual study is available (original Spanish and English translation …

normal wind turbines are much more efficient than this system. because normal wind turbines use lift forces, this one use only drag.

there is so many movings parts, I’d give less than 1 year life expectancy.

it’s so close to the water, everything gets wet, and rust in 3 months

the designer forgot the waves, when there is wind ther are waves, and that thing would capsize pretty quick.

nice video, but don’t bother make a prototype, it’s definitely not the technology that will save the world.

That’s truly amazing! I slashed my electric bill in half! look here: solar.xfollow.me (Copy to your browser’s address bar)

One Problem: It is not tall enough. On ground level, there is less wind than in about 100m above. So you should build it in large scale. :)

How about using a blender? Or a stick of dynamite?

Seriously though, the title reads WIND energy, not wave energy.

    That is really interesting.
    Nice work.
